City life & village flair

From the Alpine-Mediterranean garden village of Lagundo with its orchards, vines, palms and olive trees, to the lively market town of Lana, the largest fruit-growing village in South Tyrol and the colorful capital city of South Tyrol, Bolzano, with its medieval arcades, magnificent cathedral and exciting art and cultural highlights. Otherwise, how about a visit to South Tyrol’s smallest city? A 50-minute drive from the Hotel Waldhof Glorenza awaits you with its medieval alleys, churches and manor houses. Don't feel like driving? Then take the bus to Merano and stroll through Sissi's favourite town.

Castles

South Tyrol is not short of historic manors and castles. Even Parcines is home to one or the other noble building. For example, the Stachlburg - former village castle and residence of the Count of Parcines and current home of the Stachlburg bio wine estate - that impresses with its medieval flair in the heart of the village. Just a few steps away, there are the Tour of Gaudenz (1348) and the Spauregg Castle, dating back to the 12th century - noble witnesses of past times. Speaking of castles, half an hour's drive from the Hotel Waldhof towers a real gem: the famous Castle Tyrol with the South Tyrolean Museum of Culture and Provincial History.

Then South Tyrol will not disappoint you: from the interesting themed exhibitions at Castle Tyrol and the ancient frescoes in the St. Proculus Church and Museum in Naturno to the Myth of Mountain exhibition in the Mountain Messner Museum and summer residence of the South Tyrolean mountaineering legend Reinhold Messner: Juval Castle. Royal and Imperial Museum Bad Egart

In the Royal and Imperial Museum Bad Egart near Parcines, curious visitors and monarchy lovers get their money's worth. The oldest Badl in Tyrol (it is proven that this spring was already used in 1430) surprises its visitors with valuable pieces from the Habsburg era - from Empress Sissi to Crown Prince Rudolf -, a small shop with typical products from the Val Senales Valley, stone masks and menhirs, a snail farm and other interesting highlights. A thrilling place for the whole family!

Train World Museum

Did you know that in Rablà, near Parcines, you can find the largest digital model railroad in Italy? In the Train World Museum in Rablà - one of the largest private collections in Europe - 800 meters of laid track, 70 running trains, 400 vehicles and 12.000 miniature figures await you. And there's more: little train and railway enthusiasts can drive a miniature train themselves! Well then ... choo-choo, choo-choo!

Climbing gardens around Parcines

Only 8 minutes by car from our Vitalpina Hotel, young and older climbers can challenge their skills: no matter if beginner or professional - in the Burgstallknott Climbing Area, 37 routes offer an unforgettable acrobatic experience. Real climbing pros should not miss the Huafwond Panorama Climbing Area at the Monte Sole in Parcines, with more than 30 different climbing routes from grade II to IX and rope lengths of partly more than 30 meters – a place where adventurous hearts beat faster!
